First thing that you need to learn is the ability to change your beliefs.
Your beliefs have been built over your life. The beliefs are the thoughts that are either repeated over and over, or that are reinforced by experiencing a strong emotion. This can change a random thought into a belief.
As a society we try to set goals to change our outcomes or the end results without knowing the course. We set up a goal to make so much money but we do not attempt to change the beliefs that lead us to that outcome we presently experience.
So how do we set goals and what is the process that we need to follow to achieve the goals we set.
- If we set a goal to change the process
- Set a goal of what we want to experience, rather than what we want to have
- If we set goals as to what we want to believe that is a process.
Changing your beliefs is an important tool to have in your toolbox for having an Amazing life.
As we change our beliefs the world around us will react which can lead to the result that we were looking for. Has this ever happened to you? You want to start out the new year right so you set a goal and you try to reach for the stars but you give up after the third or fourth day. Then because you did not accomplish that goal it builds on the belief as to whether or not you can accomplish them. Do you set as a goal what you want to see as an end result. When we look towards the end of a project or a time, what is typically thought of as a “goal” We lack a vision of the road or what it will take to get there. Due to this lack of presence we do not see the things that are going on around us. Think of taking a trip to a mountain top. If you looked only at the tip of the mountain and kept your eye on the goal not only would you miss the entire trip and the beauty of the moment but the likelihood of not tripping or falling many times is very small. Because you do not see what’s right in front of you chances are you will not achieve your goal. For another example some people want to get into better shape so they say I’ll run a marathon. The problem with this as a goal is that we don’t have the mental pathways or body built to accomplish this. Because the mental pathways and the muscle memory is not there they fight against our “goal”. The way our mind works with these thoughts, is it wants to follow that path of least resistance. Is it easier to roll down a flat and smooth highway or over a bumpy and overgrown footpath, so our mind follows the highways without any other direction. That is why we we follow those large pathways or beliefs, this is why thoughts come up over and over. We can change our beliefs now that we know that have been created them by having them over time and tying the with emotional experiences. These thoughts then create large connections that give those beliefs the power to move quickly like a freeway.
To make these roads they need to be reinforced many times or a few times in a highly emotional state. Many of those thoughts are automatic thoughts. We allow these auto thoughts to run unquestioned. They can often be thoughts that stop you from achieving what you want. Telling you you can’t have or be that. These thoughts can run so many times they become a belief. Often we do not even question the validity of the thoughts we just believe them. That is what has got you to where you are today. So to make changes in our life we need to influence or change what we believe. These beliefs are the highways of our thought patterns. To make a footpath into a highway you could take years planting that thought over and over. The quicker way is to change to an emotional state and then at the highest point of the state repeat those thoughts a few times. That will drive those grooves into the mind quite deeply and make a larger pattern in a shorter period of time. One way to do this is to say those processes you want to make beliefs at the top of your voice, using as much of your body as possible. Move your arms and legs making the biggest motions you can with them. This will make those thoughts an ally rather than a foot path with just a few repetitions.
Also, when you start things start small don’t go out and try to run a marathon the first time you run. It’s likely you won’t make it to the end, if you do you will be sore and thinking “I’ll never do that again.” Instead start out with a run around the block. Then go for a run around the neighborhood. Work your way up to a 10 mile run and then continue to work up to the 26 miles. Each time you successfully complete your goal pat yourself on the back for a job well done. This will build your ability to cause movement and build motivation in yourself. This is one of the tools needed in your toolbox to build a successful life.
Napoleon Hill stated “the subconscious mind takes any orders given it in a spirit of absolute FAITH, and acts upon those orders, although the orders often have to be presented over and over again, through repetition, before they are interpreted by the subconscious mind.”
So how do we change this feeling? If we don’t change the belief we can bury the emotion. To change beliefs we need to create new deep connections in our brain with a new path. We do that by thinking something over and over or thinking the new thought while at a top emotional experience. It is also possible to replace the connection that is already there. This is what you can create in your own life, I have served others that have been able to implement that into their own life and changed their feelings.
Checking in with your body and noticing the emotions that you are feeling is an important tool that you can put into the toolbox to live life. Noticing and feeling those emotions will help to resolve them. When they are resolved they will be gone and then there is no need to burying them.
